Fasting Again!

Beloved texted me from work. Huge project coming up and he had gone from being responsible for ten percent to thirty percent in the span of a meeting!

Even though I was literally in the middle of the Home Depot parking lot (new doorbell, dryer vent hose) I stopped and texted back - I am praying and fasting!

I have written before that fasting has proven to be a life changing activity for me and in my life - so it has become a more familiar and comforting place to go during times of struggle or spiritual strife.

From that point on yesterday, I did not eat but drank quite a bit of water and even some milk. It is amazing how much more time there is for prayer when you are concentrating on something other than yourself! What you need, what you want, your hunger, your thirst.......it all seems to fall away when you center and become very quiet inside.

Beloved is working hard on his responsibilities. He will do amazingly well, not due to my fasting, but I do think that God honors sacrifice even that which seems so small. Or even large ones too!

Luke 7:44-47

[44] Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. [45] You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. [46] You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. [47] Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven -- for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."
